As a parent, one of our greatest fears is not being there to protect our little munchkins. No matter the distance or age, helplessness is the one thing that we all share in common because we simply can not be everywhere. As a father that over protective nature amplifies when you are starring into the eyes of a little girl version of yourself. I know that I wish I could protect her from the world and from everything that she would ever fear. Realistically I know that I can not, and that for my own anxieties I have to be ok knowing I can’t always rush in like a superhero and save the day. Especially when it comes to her fear of monsters and things that go bump in the night. I wish I could beat up those monsters under the bed or drag that monster out of the closet. I can’t, and not all of the time does consoling her prove it’s worth. So I wrote and illustrated  this book with her!  


As Told By Monica is a series about a young 8 and 3 quarter year old girl who naturally has the normal fears that any child would have like the undefeated closest monster, the creature that dwells under the bed, the boogeyman, bugs, thunderstorms, the dark , and so much more. One night her parents give her a magical stuffed animal that happens to go by the name Patches McFly, and her entire world gets transformed! That very night while  shivering in terror under her covers, she is transported to a dreamland where Patches comes to life. Throughout the course of the series the two will set off on adventures and missions where Patches & sometimes Regina Fresh, will teach her the power of her imagination and how to defeat the monsters that plague her and other children trapped in dreamland. 


This series offers a fresh take on how children’s books are formatted by combining manga, comic, and Traditional styles of literature creation. The story itself is fresh, completely original, and nods to a ton of nostalgic moments that we as parents can enjoy as we read to our little ones. For example the second book heavily nods to the Matrix trilogy as you can see in the cover below. The books will also feature dry erase markers so that they can fill in words on the comic/manga half of the book! Every book in the series will come with a slew of stickers and buttons so that your kid can decorate every and anything with the colorful characters from our story! Hard copies pre orders will also come with two As Told By Monica T-Shirts and giant dice. Box Set(limited supply) gets a hard copy and all of the extras along with a wooden engraved jewelry box, a stuffed Patches McFly that will come with instructions as to how to construct it for you and your littles, two t-shirts a hoodie & sweat pants. All box sets and Hard Copy pre orders will be emailed about sizes on physical release date which will be in July. All preorders will immediately receive the book as a PDF file download that can be viewed on any device you own!  


Every book in the series, where it may not have a pre-sale run, will have a box set that you could purchase to complete a collection of Stuffed animals and boxes because this brand will become one of the biggest household names in history! Book one and book two will be available 2025, and the rest in 2026  to complete Season 1 of As Told By Monica!
